Skip Mason started pickin’ on an acoustic guitar at the age of 10, and from that point music was the focus of his life, taking him on a melodic adventure of rock ‘n roll, blues, country… even a Florida beach band…
His interests in music have been influenced by the great names that moved us all- from the early greats such as Hank Williams, to rock and blues legends like The Allman Brothers and B.B. King. His Appalachian roots have helped him develop a style which mixes all of these influences into an upbeat, fun genre of its own.
Cindi Mason was always drawn to music and found her own expression of this love on the upright bass, which would ultimately add the perfect accompaniment that Skip had been longing for. Her harmonies blended naturally with Skip’s lead vocal, taking the two on a musical journey together, and thus, “The Masons” had begun.
Over the years, The Masons have evolved with tight arrangements, smooth harmonies, and their ability to put their own Appalachian spin on familiar songs, which has generated enthusiastic audience support from the numerous performances throughout their home state of West Virginia, 7 surrounding states, and their winter home in South Florida
The Masons are husband and wife duo, Skip and Cindi.
Skip plays acoustic guitar, provides lead/harmony vocals, drives the “bus”, and entertains with his wit and humor.
Cindi plays upright bass (named “Momma”), adds harmony/lead vocals, manages the date book, and keeps The Masons on the road.
The Masons 2014 debut CD was followed by 100’s of live shows to support their work.
Over the past 10 years, The Masons have performed over 1200 shows and released their 2nd CD, “Hard Life” at the beginning of 2019.
The Masons have shared the stage with Paul Barrere & Fred Tackett (of Little Feat), Larry Keel, Nicki Parrott, Waylon Speed, Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Woody Pines, The Hillbilly Gypsies.
